Multi-disciplinary Approach to Enhance the Ability of NM Dentistry
by Konstantin Ronkin,

DMD, LVIF, FICCMO, MICCMO, PhD

Abstract
You have TENS’d your patient. You have made an anatomical orthotic that you have
attempted to balance. But the patient is still not responding as you would like. Why?
What other factors should you know about? What other aspects should you consider?
We are all just dentists here. What would be in play with our patient that is not allowing
for a predictable response to your best efforts? What is TMD about today? It is not just
TENS. TENS in all its glory is just helping you overcome bio-mechanical strain in the
patient’s body. It’s very valuable, but sometimes it’s not enough. Dr. Ronkin will discuss
the three main aspects he has found for success: (1) a multi-disciplinary physiologic
approach; (2) the use of technology to obtain objective data, (3) how to combine
everything from a diagnostic consult into a picture that a dentist can understand. Dr.
Ronkin has over 2 decades of experience to share that may make a difference for these
dentists at their practices come Monday morning.
Learning Objectives:
 • How you can supplement your diagnosis.
 • How you can determine if you are able to help the patient.

  • How you can assess your patient’s physical and emotional ability to accept treatment.
  • • How we can better treat NM patients with technology
