Abstract
The posturometric evaluation of centric relation (CR) and vertical dimension (VD) is a critical aspect of comprehensive dental diagnosis and treatment planning. Centric relation is a fundamental reference point in dentistry, influencing occlusal stability and the overall oral health of patients. Additionally, vertical dimension plays a crucial role in maintaining proper aesthetics, function, and patient comfort. This abstract explores the importance of posturometric evaluation in determining the optimal CR and VD for patients. The aim of this study is to highlight the significance of posturometric methods in diagnosing and managing occlusal issues related to CR and VD. We discuss the principles of CR and VD, as well as the role of postural stability and muscle function in their assessment. Posturometer device and techniques are presented as invaluable aids in this evaluation.Through a review of relevant literature, we examine the interplay between occlusion, posture, and musculature, shedding light on the complex relationships that exist. Furthermore, we emphasize the impact of CR and VD on conditions such as temporomandibular joint disorders, bruxism, and myofascial pain, and the potential for posturometric assessment to improve treatment outcomes in these cases. In conclusion, the posturometric evaluation of centric relation and vertical dimension provides a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and managing occlusal and orofacial conditions. Understanding the connections between dental occlusion, posture, and muscle function can lead to more precise treatment planning, ultimately enhancing the overall well-being and quality of life of dental patients.
